Advocacy: As a Miss Earth England finalist, I am dedicated to addressing the significant environmental damage caused by military operations and war. These activities not only devastate human lives but also inflict severe harm on nature, exacerbating climate change and biodiversity loss. Military conflicts result in deforestation, soil degradation, and water contamination. For example, the Vietnam War’s use of Agent Orange led to massive deforestation, and in Iraq, the Gulf War oil spills created extensive marine and coastal pollution, impacting local ecosystems for decades. I advocate for a threefold approach: prevention, remediation and awareness. Prevention involves promoting diplomatic solutions and reducing military activities. Remediation focusses on restoring damaged ecosystems through reforestation and cleanup efforts. Awareness campaigns can highlight the environmental impact of war, urging global cooperation for peaceful resolutions. By working together, we can mitigate the environmental consequences of military actions and protect our planet for future generations.
